Ad Hominem Attacks

When a rhetorician suspects that an opponent may have a strong argument he attacks the opponent at the personal level, rather than respond at the original level of dialogue, in an effort to diminish the arguer. In rhetoric this is called an ad hominem attack.

The S.p.i.r.i.t. website contains slanderous attacks against me personally. The most egregious lie is that I show up to Ceremony drunk. One would think that on a drug and alcohol free men’s weekend that somebody would notice. There are no such witnesses, either on the weekend or off the weekend. There was a claim made by S.p.i.r.i.t. that they had “proof”. Anything they might offer as proof is a fabrication.

I am aware of one such deranged statement, purloined from an MKP list-serve, written by someone who was not present at the “events” described. It, too, is a fabrication. It is my hope that S.p.i.r.i.t. will show some maturity and remove the slanderous material of their own accord. And I believe an apology is in order.

Another ad hominem attack was a video posted on YouTube telling the men of MKP that they had been lied to repeatedly. Although not mentioned by name I have been told that I am the one accused of being the liar.

I have not lied about anything, not in the slightest. The story itself may be extraordinary, but true stories require no embellishment.
